They can remote control cameras, import images for close evaluation in the field without a computer, and store key images on the device for settings reference in the field. I am increasingly valuing my iPhone and iPad as tools to assist in photography. You might be missing out on what is valuable about iOS devices. You use it to track metadata as you shoot with your film camera. The film images do not need to “ever enter” the device. There are other apps that reveal the EXIF (exchangeable image file format).
